Institute of Educational Policy
The Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) is the organization that has replaced the former Pedagogical Institute during the recent reform that was introduced in Greece in 2011-2012. It is part of the Greek Ministry of Education and the official advisor on primary and secondary education matters of the Minister of Education. It composes the National Curricula, it authors the majority of the textbooks of primary and secondary education, it certifies any educational material, it makes pedagogical research and actively participates in the training of the primary and secondary school teachers.
IEP is organised into 5 departments: Primary Education, Secondary Education, Technological Education, Research and Educational Evaluation and Teacher Training. It also includes the Prescription for the Educational Material Bureau, the Certification Bureau and a Special Accountant Section. The Institute has 69 permanent staff members (PhD level), 193 temporary members (school teachers) and 40 auxiliary personnel (administrators). All the Greek national curricula are composed by the Institute.
