ISE Conference: “Inquiry based learning and Creativity in Science Education"
On 9-10 October 2015 the International Inspiring Science Education conference “Inquiry based learning and Creativity in Science Education" has taken place in the premises of Ellinogermaniki Agogi in Athens, Greece.
More than 150 among researchers, primary and secondary school educators had the opportunity to share their views and experiences and to familiarise with the fruits of ISE and to interact with professionals active in the same field. Participants also gained an overview of currently deployed initiatives in relevant areas. Along there were many workshops where the application of the ISE tools in the everyday school routine was introduced to science teachers. Interesting papers were presented and productive discussions have occurred amongst the participants.
ISE was the main issued among teachers from all around Europe who were eager to learn more about ISE in the science classroom and the benefits for using ISE in class.

The conference was supported by the European projects SCIENTIX, CREAT-IT and INSPIRINGSCIENCE and was open to all teachers of primary and secondary education.

The aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity for teachers to present innovative educational scenarios and educational activities implemented in their schools, which promote inquiry based learning and creativity and are based on innovative ideas and approaches while highlighting the use of new technological applications (virtual laboratories, simulations, interactive augmented reality applications, robotics applications). These activities should be based on the principles of inquiry based learning and have applied for at least one academic year in real school environment.
The presentation of the obtained results (qualitatively or quantitatively) and the impact they had on educational practice is an extremely important parameter for the selection of the tasks that were presented.
At the same time innovative approaches were presented. These approaches have already been implemented in schools and combine teaching of science with teaching arts (music, theater).
