International IPPOG Masterclass in University of Crete
One hundred and thirty high school students from twenty two schools all over Crete came to the University of Crete, together with their teachers, for one day on 5 April 2014 in order to learn about particle physics, CERN and become researchers for a day. In the morning, lectures are given by professors from the University of Crete and the University of Athens. In the afternoon while the students attended a hands-on experience, a special session with the teachers took place. The teachers were introduced to the ISE Project by C.Kourkoumelis and were encouraged to subscribe to the project's data base. Different possibilities about their action plan were discussed. On the other hand, after an introduction to the event analysis tool by S.Vourakis the students used HYPATIA to look for Z and Higgs bosons from real ATLAS data. Furthermore, at the end of the day the students compared their results with those of other institutions from other countries in a videoconference.
