Greek ISE schools win international awards
Two teams of students from ISE schools in Greece participated in the first ever Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Competition World Finals, which was held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry in the UK from the 22 ' 24 June 2015, and won the Research & Development Award and Innovative Thinking Award.
The Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Competition is an innovative educational initiative which has engaged thousands of young people since it was launched in the UK in 2006. The Challenge has now been launched in 14 countries around the world including Australia, United Arab Emirates and Greece and will be rolled out in more countries in the next academic year.
The Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Competition is an enhancement and enrichment STEM initiative that gives young people an insight into what it takes to become an engineer. The project hopes to raise awareness, interest, enjoyment and enthusiasm in STEM through a practical 'hands on' experience.
Dimitris Polymatidis from the ISE partner SETApps, the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Competition country coordinator for Greece and Cyprus, said: 'it was an enriching experience for our students on so many different levels. I'm proud of the professionalism, innovation, engineering capabilities and overall dedication shown by our teams. They deserved all their success taking the Research & Development Award and Innovative Thinking Award'.
