F1 in Schools 2014 World Finals
Eighteen student teams from ISE countries participated in the F1 in Schools World Finals after winning their respective National Finals. The tenth F1 in Schools' World Finals 2014 saw 38 teams of between three and six students from 24 countries competing for the World Champions title. The World Finals was held at the Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, from 16th to 19th November, linking with the 2014 Formula OneEtihad Airways Abu DhabiGrand Prix.
The F1 in Schools technology challenge, an ISE Demonstrator, is active in over 30 countries where students have been competing to win a place at the tenth World Finals. Over 300 students from around the world were welcomed in Abu Dhabi. After two and a half days of intense competition the event concluded on Wednesday 19th November with the evening gala awards ceremony dinner where high profile figures fromAbu Dhabiand Formula1 were in attendance.
The F1 in Schools challenge aims to help change perceptions of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop an informed view about careers in Engineering, Science, and Technology.
Dimitris Polymatidis from the ISE partner SETApps, who is the F1 in Schools country coordinator for Greece and Cyprus (http://www.f1inschools.gr/), said of this year's World Finals, 'it was an enriching experience for our students on so many different levels and I know that our teams competing in 2014 leave the event having had the most amazing time of their life. I'm proud of the professionalism, innovation, engineering capabilities and overall dedication shown by our teams. Our teams deserved all their success taking the Knock Competition Award and Fastest Car Award'.
