Virtual Visit to the Ice Cube South Pole Research Facility

In the framework of the Inspiring Science Education project in Greece,a series of Virtual Visits to the world's biggest research facilities, such as CERN and the IceCube Neutrino Observatory in the South Pole, has taken place.On 22/01/2016, 6 schools, 80 students and 20 teachers from Crete, conducted a Virtual Visit to IceCube, with contributions from Sofoklis Sotiriou (Ellinogermaniki Agogi, Greece), Sotirios Loukatos (UniversityParis7DenisDiderot,) and Vasilis Garganourakis (MinEdu, Greece). Participants were given the opportunity to discuss about Neutrino particle research, what the experiment is discovering about the universe from the so-called invisible particles and what it is like to live and work in one of the most extreme environments on earth.
