Masterclass in University of Athens for Aigio city students (Peloponese)

On 28 March a school from Aigio that couldn't take part in the International Physics Masterclasses came to the University of Athens for a special Masterclass sessin with 35 high school students and 5 teachers.

The event followed the Masterclass format. First the students attended lectures given by professors from the faculty of physics. They learned about the new developments in high energy physics and the work being done at CERN. Later they took part in a laboratory exercise where they used the HYPATIA event display to 'discover' the Z and Higgs bosons. While the students were busy with their hands-on activities, the teachers were introduced to the Inspiring Science Education project in a lecture given by Dr. A.Lazoudis of EA. The teachers were encouraged to subscribe to the project's data base and different possibilities about their action plan were discussed. Additionally, after an introduction to the HYPATIA analysis tool, the students used it look through real ATLAS data for the Z and the Higgs bosons.
