Judging process

Each entry was assessed by at least 3 judges based on the information provided by the entrant.

Judging Criteria

Judges used the following criteria when making their selection:

Criterium Description
1 Clear,
simple to use and fully operational
The assessment will be based on the extent to which the scenario is judged to be clear(for teachers and students on what they have to do), simple (to use, adopt,change, flexible) and fully operational (complete, all links and material available).
2 Scientific accuracy The assessment was based on the scientific accuracy of the content that is the subject of the lesson plan/scenario.
3 Use of e-Tools to inspire and motivate and promote collaboration The assessment was based on the originality of the lesson plan/scenario supported by e-tools which has been developed by the teacher or group of teachers and the extent to which it is viewed as being inspirational and motivating for the students as well as promoting collaboration.
4 Use of ISE resources The selection took into account the degree of exploitation of the ISE resources in the submitted lesson plan/scenario.
5 Inquiry based Assessment took into account the extent to which the lesson/scenario addresses at least one of the typical phases in an IBSE approach, namely:
  • Orienting & Asking Questions
  • Hypothesis Generation & Design
  • Planning & Investigation
  • Analysis & Interpretation
  • Conclusion & Evaluation
6 Follows at least one Big Idea of Science Assessment of the degree to which the proposed lesson plan/scenario explores at least one Big Idea of Science and promotes inter-disciplinary collaboration.
